Gods of Thunder

This illustration is based on common depictions and descriptions of several ancient deities from different cultures associated with thunder and storms. It depicts; Thor (Nordic), Zues/Jupiter (Greco-Roman), Chaac (Aztec), Seth (ancient Egypt) and Xango/Shango (Yoruba).

There are fascinating overlaps in the descriptions that suggest, prehistoric connections between cultures, or similarities in perceptions and rationalisation of natural phenomena such as thunder and storms.
